FERN, Staghorn, Plaque*

Unit Pack Size: Plaq 12x12
Light:It must grown where there is bright light, but not direct sunshine as well as no drafts.

Water:It needs high humidity, but don't mist this plant. The best way of watering is to
submerge the root system in a container of luke-warm water. Do this weekly in
the summer and once every ten days in the winter; 15 minutes is enough.

Temp:Winter temperatures should be from 55-65 degrees and not higher than 75 degreesin the summer.

Soil:The mix should be porous and humus-rich; orchid mix is just fine, as is peat mossor coarse peat litter.

Fertilizer:Add liquid plant food, rich in nitrogen, 5 or 6 times a year.

Pests:Aphids and scales

Special Care:This fern thrives well in a clay pot as long as there is good drainage at the bottom of the pot. Do this by adding pot shards or perlite to keep drainage hole clear. Use pure coarse peat moss as compost. Only repot when the pot is too small.

Flower Color:This plant does not flower.

Growth Habit:Leaves grow to about 2' - 3'. The sheath-shaped leaves in the center of the plant start out green but later turn brown. Only the leaves covered with gray scales bear spores, so they are the ones that ensure the continuation of the species.

Fun Fact:They get their name because the shape of the leaves look like antlers.

The key to a happy plant is proper care!
