PALM, Bismarkia*
[F17PA BI]

Unit Pack Size: 17" Pot Light:Full sun to partial shade.

Water:Ample watering during summer months will be rewarded with more growth, but they do not like to stand in wet, mucky soil.

Temp:High temperatures in the summer are quite tolerated, but not cooler temperatures that fall below the mid twenties (F.)

Soil:Well drained, sandy soil.

Fertilizer:Fertilizer burn can easily occur with Bismarkia grown indoors. If you feel it's needed, fertilize during the summer growing season only,
and mix at 1/4 recommended rate.

Pests:This specie seems to be more susceptible to poor culture than to insect infestation.

Special Care:Lots of light, humidity and good drainage is the key.

Flower Color:N/A

Growth Habit:If growing in a container as opposed to the ground, it likes a big pot with plenty of root room. Growth rate is much slower in a container.
In it's native habitat, it can reach up to 60 feet!

Fun Fact:This palm is natively only found in Madagascar. From a cultural point of view, this species has been found to thrive in a more tropical and humid
environment, but has also had success in drier desert areas. So, it tolerates a wide variety of conditions. In Madagascar, it is the only palm
species evident.

The key to a happy plant is proper care!
