Light:Although the plant likes plenty of light, it cannot take burning sun.
Water:Water well in the summer. Water sparingly but never let the soil dry out completely.
Temp:Tibouchina cannot survive frost or very low temperatures. In the summer it can standoutdoors. The winter temperature should not go below 55 degrees and summer
temperatures should be kept over 70 degrees.
Soil:It likes a light, rich, acid soil containing a considerable amount of peat moss.
Fertilizer:Feed well in the blooming cycle.
Pests:Red spider mites and Mealy bugs.
Special Care:If the plant grows along a trellis, pinch out the tips. Free-standing plants benefit
by a hard pruning; cut back to 2-3 buds.
Flower Color:Iridescent Blue-violet flowers
Growth Habit:It reaches a height of about 7-10' with fragile, drooping stems. It can be kept more compact by pinching the tips out. It has big velvety leaves.
